2024 is the year of voluminous - albeit elusive - AmEx approvals.
On November 30, 2023 I applied for a Platinum card and got the usual auto-denial, no credit check, returned application citing bankruptcy on my credit report. As far as I know, they don't have an actual reconsideration line so I started with (I think) 800-567-1083 and explained why I thought this was a mistake. Of course, the agent I spoke with didn't anywhere near that level of authority - but she put my request in and said they'd get back to me.
A week later, the status changed to "provide required information" - so I called back and was told they needed a 4506-C form. This time they were actually kind enough to mail me a copy of the form, along with detailed instructions on how to fill out then submit. I uploaded January 3, 2024 and got a confirmation email.
In the mailbox today was an envelope, but it felt pretty light for there to be a Platinum card inside. It was a carbon-copy of the last denial letter, only thing that had changed was the date - now matching exactly when I uploaded 4506-C. :-O Did they even process my paperwork? I'm hesitant to call them again and ask - since in my experience all they really want to do is read back the exact same denial letter(s), verbatim.
Anyway, just wondering how others went about this?

You KNOW that I know how frustrating the 4506-C merry-go-round is. The only way I was able to get resolution was through the Amex Executive Office. Even they were stumped at first, until they were able to determine that the 4506-C needed a wet signature. Evidently, they have a way to check for a wet signature on an upload. But you already provided a wet signature.
My initial experience was very similar in that I would upload the 4506-C (before I knew about the wet signature requirement) and would assume that it was being processed. Then, I'd get a letter in the mail saying that they were awaiting my 4596-C OR I would call and their offshore reps would tell me my 4506-C was incorrect. They don't call you to let you know. You either call them after waiting or you eventually get the letter which basically says you didn't submit the 4596-C.
I wish I had advice to offer. I am hoping someone else has a successful experience to share. Mine was successful but I still do not understand how it happened,

Sad, but yes... I remember!
Couldn't find a clear answer on this, so I called AmEx today before the weekend. A friendly U.S. representative explained how brutal and slow it can be getting this sort of information from the IRS. We both thought maybe the 30-day window had already passed on reconsidering, and her suggestion was to just apply again. So we did - same result as above. She then transferred me (overseas I think) to someone who I was reassured could fix the application. But he told me no right off the bat - it can't be reconsidered. Huh??
The next floor manager (?) I spoke with told me to call 800-528-4800 with a bankruptcy lawyer on the phone, to see about getting approved that way. She didn't sound certain, and didn't offer much else other than try again after 30 x days. But that's what I did before and still got denied... I'm not really sure what to do next - maybe the IRS will eventually come through? If you've seen other approval threads I've posted, I am used to just talking my way into getting a yes.
Good luck with this.. these days, its become incredibly difficult to talk our way(s) into things.

Further suggestions welcomed. Check out my United Quest thread - literally every metric (bankruptcy, bankruptcy dates, inquiries, income, existing credit lines, 5/24 rules...) would agree on how I could never get approved. I made my case to some sort of credit analyst after calling the reconsideration line - she got me approved for a credit line 4-5x what I asked her for.
Things are only impossible if you believe them to be so.
@SKBirdmind a lot of it is perception of discrimination but I wont get into that here. lol
shoot for the stars! anything is possible in life :-)

No KIDDING! I've been called some pretty interesting names on other forums, even when it comes to things like filing bankruptcy... It would be good to hear what people did to get back in after less than 10 x years, or what have you. Tricky getting through to anyone at AmEx with real authority!
Happy to wait on the IRS for now, just have no idea if that's going to get my approval or not. The last rep I spoke to had no visibility as to whether AmEx even processed it...
