So I want an American Express Card to complete my profile then Im done. Like for real. So I said I wasnt going to apply for one until I was prequalified. I wasnt expecting it anytime soon. I just randomly tried today and surprisingly I was pre-qualified for the Amex Everyday,Gold and green(with and additional 5,000 point bonus on everyday and gold). My experian fico is only 664. I know that no pre-qualified offer is gauranteed. I just want to know is Amex's pretty solid? Also was wondering if anyone knows since I'm pre-qualified for the everyday card. does the Amex BC have the same requirements? Thanks in advance
I was prequalified as well....Got denied...
NOT RELIABLE AT ALL---Try it if you dont believe it...I just put fako info on their prequalifer and it came up with offers....Just like Discover...

Amex pre qualifiers are pretty reliable. I'd say your Fico is borderline for ED or BC, but you have a good shot at Gold or Green. The charge cards tend to have more relaxed underwriting than the revolver cards. Some people apply for the Charge card they want first, then if approved, apply for the revolver card they want. That way you don't burn an additional hard pull.
Thanks for your response. Hmm I guess I can try that. The only thing is the charge card has $160 annual fee. Idk about that lol. I mean unless the benefits and potential earnings can outweight the annual fee.
Hmmm....I tried it with a made up name and it said that they "recommended" certain cards for me but when I put in my real info, it says that I'm pre qualified for Platinum, BCP and PRG. However, earlier this year, it said my husband was prequalified and he got denied so........
I have NEVER been prequalified for an AMEX before. It really has me thinking about apping especially with the 50K MR points for the PRG.

Hey donny, Did it say you were pre-qualified and give you customized welcome offers? or did it say we recommend?

yes this is also my first time ever getting an amex prequalified offer. And the welcome offer is an additional 5,000 spend bonus. I dont think its a coincidence that I got the offer right after a charge-off was removed from my credit. I hope its real this is like the last card I want. That 50k PRG bonus sounds good. Thats about $500 in cash value right? hmmm

I think MR values depend on how you redeem them with travel being the "best" option for getting the most value out of them. You can transfer them for airline or hotel points. You can also get gift cards and statement credits (I think) but the value really depends on how you choose to redeem them.
