Hi all I bit the bullet and applied afor an American Express BCE with a low score and a prayer. I applied for the regular everyday card and was denied. I the applied for th BCE card with a representative and noticed that she the application had more indebted questions regarding finances. I was not declined and the application went into review. I checked back later and they both applications are processing. Can anyone tell me what is going on as the first these application declined the the status changed to processing.
Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated thank you in advance.
Sounds like they're taking a second look at both of them with the additional info you provided over the phone. Since it's the weekend the team that reviews things isn't in the office and probably won't see it until tomorrow. Just sit tight and let things play out with the possibility of one or both being approved if they like what they see.
Austinguy907,
Thank you so much for your response. I was concerned as to why I have not had any response from them. I hope they are in tomorrow due to the holiday and I receive a positive response from them beginning with Welcome. I've applied every 45 days with no luck, This card will complete my portfolio, and I can close some of my sub prime credit cards. Thanks again.
The sub primes should probably go either way if you're paying to keep them.
I forgot about the holiday but, it should be looked over this week and rendered a response. They might even call you to discuss it if it's really borderline.
What are your scores?
Hi Em71,
My scores are something I should have posted. Tu 680 Ex 650 ( lowest) and Eq 670. I know I should have waited, but I have seen members with less scores get in with Amex. I hope I'm one of them. My foot in the door and grow from there . Fingers crossed!
Provided you don't have something out of left field like a BK in the last 5 years or an old acct with AMEX that was charged off you should probably come in somewhere in the $2K range for an approval. It's just a waiting game now to see what they do when they look things over and make a decision.
austinguy907,
No I do not have a bankruptcy nor have i have I burned Amex in the past. My sub-primes all have zero balances and I was only temporarily keeping then as I'm not sure how it would affect my overall utilization , however I have decided to close them and I'll probably do that on Tuesday knowing now that my scores will bounce back in a few months .
Hello everyone,
I have an update... I just received a call from American Express and they wanted to verify that this was not fraud as I have alerts on all credit bureaus. I verified and was approved!!! (Happy dance). Although I have a low cli of $1000 I'm hoping in time it will grow. My card should arrive within 2-3 business days. Thanks austinguy907 for the encouragement.

Congrats!
If you apply for anything else you're probably going to be jumping through hoops as long as you have those alerts out there.
