Is requesting a credit limit from American Express A hard or soft pull, if it"s a hard pull i will not do it. Thank you and be safe.

Soft pull. 3x the limit is the max - they'll counter if necessary, outright deny if they're not comfortable with any increase.

Account must be at least 61 days old for first request. If approved, you have to wait 181 days to request again. If denied, 91 days to request again.

To add, once you are approved the 181 days is for the whole account, not per card so if you have 2 revolving cards, both 61 days old and you requested and was approved for a CLI on one of them, you cannot request a CLI for any cards within the 181 day period (which from some DP includes both personal and business cards).

It's always been a soft pull for me. Even if I apply for a new card it's a soft pull. Good Luck and let us know.

Mine (and most) as well. So, if HPs have happened on occasion I would think there's a reason why. Hopefully coldfusion stops back in and can shed a bit more light.

This is good to know. I just had a CLI on my Delta Skymiles recently. Looks like I will have to wait 6 mo to request one for my Hilton Honors card.
