Re: Amex 3x CLI contemplation for a new guy. Hello!

I called customer service and the automated line said they show no record of me requestion a CLI.  ??

Edit: Just chatted online with a rep and they confirmed my request. I think I'll just wait it out rather than poke the bear. lol

Lamboz does checking your spending power with AMEX do any harm?

No, it doesn't. It isn't recommended to play around too much with it though, say more than a few times a day.

Usually when you call the automated and it says "they have no record of a credit limit increase request" it means you requested too early...been there..I believe you are ok. wait a couple of days or so and try again....you will be fine....Smiley Happy

Re: Amex 3x CLI contemplation for a new guy. Hello!

Thanks! So I can re-apply even though the 7-10 day is pending? They won't think I'm pushing things? I may be way too paranoid about all of this. :-)

The chat rep did confirm that as of this afternoon I was at 61 days. I applied early this morning though. Not sure that would fit into the equation..

If the rep confirmed you at 61 days it's hard to say but it will not hurt you to try again in a couple of days..it's a soft pull..no harm...

Makes sense. Technically I can re-apply since I've not yet been denied. Just in  review...

Re: Amex 3x CLI contemplation for a new guy. Hello!

I called customer service and was first told I appd too soon. She said the required waiting period is 90 days after approval and account creation and that I should wait until May. I told her I understood it to be 60 days so she transferred me to another department becuase she wasn't sure about the rules. After transfer I was told I was denied and would be receiving "The Letter".   Oh well... my scores are only going up and my utilization is always below 4% so I'll try again in 90-)

Thanks doinit-) I expected the denial to be honest and have no problem with the process. It is funny that after the denial I checked my spending ability on my Platinum and it approved me for $15,000. They're willing to trust that I'll pay back 15k in a billing cycle, but not on a revolver over time. Lol. Apples and oranges I suppose-)

Hello everyone! First post, and I must say I'm becoming mildly addicted! Everyone is so helpful here and this place has been a treasure trove of information for me!

My situation: I'm at day 61 tommorrow and contemplating pulling the trigger despite my average credit score. I applied for and recieved the BCE -$5000 CL, Platinum and Delta Gold $1500 CL on 2/24 even though my Exp was only 660 at the time.  I suppose they like something about my profile. I lived debt free for years (I'm 49) and decided it was time to build a profile. Only negs are two old medical collections from 2010 that are unpaid (long story but it involved an ex-wife) and my utitilaztion hovers around 2% across the 7 cards I own (only have very small balances on two, rest report zero) and my annual income is 80K. After opening the new accounts my Exp dropped to a 650 so I'm thinkin I will probably be declined the 3X, but I think I'll pull the trigger regardless.  I've run about $2000 through the BCE and a grand through the Platinum and both sit at zero balance now.  Think I'll have a shot with the moderate score drop but good pay history and very low util?

Nice to be here and thanks for having me!

Your score might have dipped because the cards were paid down to zero. FICO 8 doesn't like all cards reporting at zero.

If you have 2 cards, you can get your score up by letting one report a small balance while the other reports zero.
