Amex App for BCP or request CLI?

Welp, its been roughly 61+ days since i was denied my last CLI from AMEX for my cards. I just checked the pre-qaulified section and it says I would be able to app for the BCP and the Amex Green.

I already have 3 Amex (Delta Gold, BCE, HH Surpass) the BCE is only 6 months old, others 1 year. The Surpass was a prior upgrade from base card.

Now, if I app for BCP and get it (or not), would I be able to still request a CLI on my other cards, or its a either/or deal? I don't want to deal myself a HP if possible of course!

DP as of now:

MYFICO - EX 649 (Hoping update soon, others just got 10+ bump as of last 10 days)

AAoA 5 years.

TCL $5.5 (est)

No INQ across

No HP across

UTIL 70%-ish (i know; and yes carrying at least 50% bal across these 3 cards)

1 current Install CU loan.

Re: Amex App for BCP or request CLI?

I get denied every 3 months. I'm thinking about upgrading my BCE to the BCP, I have my finger on the trigger everyday. I see the "your approved for an upgrade" and I'm trying to figure out if I need the upgrade or not. My BCE is sitting at 5k since I got it 6 years ago...but my credit scores have been hovering around 700 and I have two baddies (paid collections from 2018) that I think are holding me back.

I may do it today. I could use the 6% cash back on groceries!

I know it's not what you want to hear, but you should wait until your util is under control. You'll get a nice score bump and your profile will look far more favorable. If AMEX approves you for another card I highly suspect it will be a card with a toy limit, and a card that they will keep you on a short leash with because of your profile at the time off approval. My scores are about 100 points higher than when I was approved for a couple of my cards a year ago, and I am still suffering the effects of being approved with a borderline profile back then in the sense of getting a CLI is still like pulling teeth. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
