Amex Approval Process

How does Amex do their approval process? Since it is a SP if you are denied-do they do a fresh pull for that soft? Or use the last Fico Score they have from an AR? And if they approve you based on the AR one... and then they pull the hard, and it is way better.... does the SL go up? Or would it be more wise to wait until they have an AR with the most recent score that is way better? (I hope that makes sense)

Thanks

Re: Amex Approval Process

I'm going to assume that you already have a CC with AMEX. I'm wondering what their process is when you burn them. AMEX is one of the three CCCs that I burned about 10yrs ago, and I've read that if they have no intentions of approving you, they don't pull your credit, or it's a SP. Is that true?

Hey Dj, im not sure but for best cgance of success, id wait til you know theyve updated your fico 8 which should signify they have the freshest AR. Expect a hp but be pleased if they approve with sp as they have been doing recently.

LadyJEsq, correct, if you are still on the black list they wont pull your credit. If they do pull at least you know you are off though you might not still be approved ymmvSmiley Happy

Re: Amex Approval Process

LadyJEsq I had Amex but lost it in 2007, they just let me back in 7/2017. It took me about 10 years

Good to know! This may be why I still can't get a prequal for AMEX, it's only been since 2008 (the worse year of my life!).

Re: Amex Approval Process

What I did back in April was applied, I was declined but not because of being a previous member (previously that had been the reason for my decline). In July I applied for Delta Skymiles and was approved for $1000SL

Re: Amex Approval Process

Did you have any prequals for them? Was your denial CC one of their cards? I just app for both Chase Slate and IGH and was declined for Slate because they say I've had the Slate before (I didn't) but was instantly approved for IHG with a SL of $22,000.
