Hello everyone, I am new to this community and thankful for all of the knowledge I have gained reading the topics here.
I am considering signing up for the Amex Blue Cash Everyday as my next card. I have heard that Amex is nicer towards thin files compared to others.
I currently have a Discover It student with $1000 limit, and BOA cash rewards student with $500. Discover account is 4 months old and BOA is 1 month old. There is also a student loan of $5.5K from 7 months ago. No derogatories on credit report, I always pay the full balance before the payment due date and keep util under 10%.
Amex prequal shows Everyday card (silver), Gold card, and the Cash Magnet. Since I want to apply for the Blue Cash Everyday, would I be risking a lot if I sign up without having a prequal. Also want to avoid another $500 limit, so would it be a better idea to wait until I apply?
Income is $31,000. Full time student with 2 jobs and $800 a month from Amazon mturk.
I think you would get one, but your SL would be low. I think the first AmEx card SL is always low, for everyone. But they grow fast and future AmEx cards will have better starting limits.

You will probably be approved, but with a low cl. This was my first card with AMEX and I received a cl of $1,000. I wasn't approved for a cli for almost 2 years, but I was approved for the Platinum during the 2 year period which I found interesting. However, since then, the cl has grown significantly.

- Do you spend that much on groceries or gas? The BCE gives 3% on groceries & 2% on gas, 1% all else, and you have to have $25 in rewards to redeem them, and the 3% on groceries only works at chain grocery stores, not Walmart/Target or wholesale clubs like Costco.
If not the Cash Magnet with 1.5% rewards on everything might be a better fit for you, and since you're pre-qualified you might get a higher starting limit.
BTW, what is an "Amazon mturk"?

Respect!
Bam!
I will move out to an apartment soon and I will start spending much more on groceries, it would be nice to have the 3% cash back.
Amazon mturk is a crowdsourcing marketplace. I complete mostly academic surveys and data entry / copy&paste tasks for side income.

My Amex BCE SL was $10k and at the time I was approved I only had 1 other CC on my CR, a $3000 or $3500 limit Cap One.
