Navy Federal Credit.. What Bureau do they use?
So I finally decided to give up on Penfed.. Because it's quit obvious they don't like my profile.. Lol
So I joined Navy federal and I applied for the credit card.. And it wasn't the flagship I saw here that's a hard one to get fresh out the gate.
But I got the 5-7 message.. But none of my reports were pulled. Should I have waited a few days before applying for the credit card?
Also can anyone tell me which credit bureau they pull?
My current scores are as follow.. Trans 700 Exp 687 EQ 766 These are my fico scores
Thanks in advance
I have a old student loan that's keeping my Trans and Ex score dow which is now paid off.. But it does have some lates. (this is my only baddie)

Re: Navy Federal Credit.. What Bureau do they use?
For New Credit Cards, NFCU uses TU Fico 8 Score.
With your UTL and scores, you should be ok.

Re: Navy Federal Credit.. What Bureau do they use?
Ok.. If thats the case about them pulling TU for new apps.. Then I see what the issue is.. That report was frozen
I thought they pulled EQuifax like Penfed.. So I'll just wait for the letter to be sure that's the isse.. And see if I could reapply.
Thank you for responding.

Re: Navy Federal Credit.. What Bureau do they use?
It's usually a good idea to leave CRs unfrozen for new apps, regardless of CR, since a variety of lenders can pull any of them (just depends on the lender and/or your CR file). For instance, and although very rare, NFCU has been known to pull EX or EQ for new apps, again rare but possible.
By the same token they're known to pull EQ for CLOC applications and EQ or TU for CLIs.

Thanks @ Finstar
I will deff leave them all unfrozen moving forward for new apps etc.. I'm still learning the credit world. And as soon as I think I have it figured out something happens to show me I have soooooo much more to learn.. LOL

Re: Navy Federal Credit.. What Bureau do they use?
They also sometimes mix it up and pull a different bureau from their usual. Like this example where the other reports were frozen so they HP EX when evaluating for a CLI - https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Cards/Navy-Federal-now-checks-Experian/td-p/4800125
I personally went and lifted all of my freezes. Both Transunion and Equifax have given me big problems with their online system with Transunion not giving me the ability to manage my freeze for over a week now. Fortunately calling with my PIN worked and I just lifted all of them. I monitor my credit like a hawk so if someone did try to do something stupid, I would be on it before the paperwork was even finished but the credit freezes really are a huge hassle.

Re: Navy Federal Credit.. What Bureau do they use?
In my experience, due to a previous split file issue with EQ, I figured the CLOC application would error out or be declined. They pulled both TU and EQ (blank file). Once EQ (temporarily) fixed the issue which lasted just a bit longer than the life span of a gnat, the CLOC was approved, but I wasn't aware they'd use TU for that product (and they couldn't use TU, it had to be EQ).
But, with NFCU, what's another HP, right? It's possible I just got hit with another one just by sharing this with you 😉

Re: Navy Federal Credit.. What Bureau do they use?
@ Saeren
Yes I stalk my credit to like a jilted lover who can't let go.. and thankfully so.. I got an alert prior to me knowing about credit freezes. That someone tried to obtain a Verizon Wireless account in my name.. I was able to have the application shut down. However Verizon refused to remove the hard Inquiry that came with it. So when I called Eq about it. They suggested security freeze.. But like you said sometimes it's a hassle to have them removed.
