Amex BCE prequalified then declined

So, I'll say that this wasn't a total surprise for me because I burned Amex about 9 years ago and when I've applied have always been delinced without a HP.

I've never received any sort of pre-approval on the Amex site, but a couple of weeks ago, the BCE and Everyday cards came up along with fixed interest rates.  I thought maybe I had reached my time with Amex so this morning I decided to give it a go.  Unfortunately, no change for me.  Still declined instantly with no HP (at least not yet), and in the instant decline letter it referred to previous accounts.

So, even when on the BL, it looks like its possible to get pre-qualified on the Amex page, but unfortunately that doesn't mean your off the BL.

I dunno, I remember someone posting here that Amex had him blacklisted, claiming a charge off from around 30 years ago. He challeged it and they just blew him off.

Sorry OP. I was approved for a BCE last week after being pre-approved on the pre-qual page since my 2010 BK7 discharge hit the 6 year mark earlier this year.I don't have the card yet, but on my online account it says "Member since 1978". I'm sure I've never had an Amex card before, and in 1978 I was in my 20s working as a ranch hand in Colorado, I'm pretty sure I didn't have Amex in my wallet or saddle. Smiley LOL But, I'm not going to argue with them. Smiley Wink
