Update: Went ahead and just applied for the BCP..10K starting limit, very happy with that. Thank you everyone for the help. Interestingly the Experian score they pulled was 770 from a few weeks ago and not my current 795 from a few days ago. I wonder if my starting limit would have been more? (shrug), guess we'll never know

Your starting limit is almost double all your other cards combined. It's not worth wondering about.

Plus in 61 days, you can 3x CLI that card. But if you go over $25K, be prepared for a tax transcript request, so they can verify your income.

Not necessarily.  Many have gone over $25k without IV.  This largely depends on your declared income.

I went from a $10k SL to $30k at Day 64 without IV on a 5-figure income.  Others have gone higher than that.  With 6-figure income, people have reported $40k an $50k limits with Amex without IV.

Re: Amex BCE vs BCP starting limits

I thought the IV wasnt triggered until the 34.5k threshold or something close to that? Have people reported it on these boards lower then that? If so, where? Love this info.

Also, I read somewhere that if you request a number that triggers the IV--say 40k...that if you dont want to provide the IV, amex doesnt neccesarily freeze your cli..you could keep trying for less until they approve? That was somewhere on myfico

Re: Amex BCE vs BCP starting limits

I could be wrong, but maybe one of the reasons you were denied was how soon you went for the cli? I think with amex you need to wait at least 61 days after the account opens and then another 180-81 after that....also, I think there are more rules or strategies if you have multiple cards with them.

Re: Amex BCE vs BCP starting limits

No, I waited for each one to be past the 61 day mark.....it was exactly as they stated..lots of inquiries in a short time..I'm probably at 12/24...
