Amex CLI 7-10 day message

Hit the CLI button, card has been open for 50 days. Right after I get the 7-10 message I get an email requesting I call at my earliest convenience. Jumped on chat but they were no help but they said it wasn't because it was before the 61 days. They said the 61 day rule is no longer in effect. Question is, why have me call in? Usually a CLI request is a simple yes or no.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but 99.9% the 7-10 day message is a denial and as of late they ask you to call

Who wants to call for bad news ....Duh

Save the call try again at another time

Sorry

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Out of curiosity, if the 61 day rule is no longer in effect, what are they going by now?

Re: Amex CLI 7-10 day message

Just got off the phone with the CLI dept. Decline because account not open 60 days. They said the rule is in place, period! Doesn't count as a decline so I can apply in 2 weeks

Re: Amex CLI 7-10 day message

Just got a letter from Amex that stated the same thing.  Account has to be open for 60 days.  I called & they told me to ask on the 15th.

Re: Amex CLI 7-10 day message

I don't think the reps even know half the time. Some tell you the 61 days rules is no longer in effect, so say it still is. Just like any company, the reps give misinformation all the time. I know. I work for a bank....lol!

Anyway, Amex told me to call them too, when I tried at activation (seeing some people were getting them at that time). They told me the same thing...has to be opened at least 60 days. So who knows what the rules are. It definitely is YMMV. But, it is still frustrating!! 😐

Seems 61 days is back. Don't trust AmEx unless if you're a holder of a high tier card. They're the only ones that know their job correctly.
