So it's that time of year where my Amex CLI was avaiable. My BCE CL sits at 18,200 (a number people apperantly don't like) and I did what a normal person would do, I requested an increase TO 36,000. I did this mostly for testing/learning purposes. This amount is a bit more than I make annually so it's all pretty silly. Of course, I got the income verification message and promptly filled it out online and received the 15-30 day message.
So...what are my realistic chances at getting this approved? Will they counter-offer me if I don't get approved?
Thanks in advance for all your help. ![]()
My question to you is - why would you even ask? You might have been able to get 25K but if you don't have the income to support the CLI you won't ever get it. If you make 35K a year be happy with 18.2K
Just my two cents.

Pushing bounderies is something this forum has empowered me with. Lol...I very much appreciate your two cents.
It's one of those "lets see who can jump higher" kind of things. Lets say that I get approved (unlikely but still), this is now recorded on these forums and someone looking for such a huge limit would try for it...it might help somebody...even if I get denied, it's a lesson I will have learned and other people can continue to learn from.
Guessing you will be countered for maybe another few k. Best of luck! Least you are willing to try to push the limits and submit the income verification!

At least I'm hoping it's an increase and not a flat-out denial, even if it's small lol. Pushing limits is how we learn! ![]()
Thanks

Go back and request an increase to 25K. I have read about people on here who got the income verification and then went back to the credit increase screen and requested 25K and got approved for it.

This is true.. Although he already submitted his form, I wonder if this will impact that.. Once again if he wants to test the limits for Fico research then that is cool as well
..
Unless one is a very high income person who has a large net income on 1040 forms after deductions plus high scores, it is unwise to rock the boat.
Many people who have the means to handle that kind of limit who have business income take a lot if deductions and show very little income on paper that can be verified.
I agree with the others. Just accept Am Ex for $25,000 total and seek other high limit cards from other lenders.

I appreciate all the input. What do we know of people who have been counter-offered on the verification? Do they get put at 25K or do they get less?
