Isn't it 6 more months? I tried at 4 months last time and got "Too soon from last credit limit increase."

Unless one is a very high income person who has a large net income on 1040 forms after deductions plus high scores, it is unwise to rock the boat.

Many people who have the means to handle that kind of limit who have business income take a lot if deductions and show very little income on paper that can be verified.

I agree with the others. Just accept Am Ex for $25,000 total and seek other high limit cards from other lenders.

I appreciate all the input. What do we know of people who have been counter-offered on the verification? Do they get put at 25K or do they get less?

I have seen people do what you did then go back in and request less than 25K and get approved. You should do that.

3 month wait on a denial. 6 month wait on a CLI.

Goodness you know a lot, stick around, please. I can learn a few things. I don't mind waiting another 3 months if I get denied. Honestly, ever since I got my Freedom most of my spend is going there.

So it's that time of year where my Amex CLI was avaiable. My BCE CL sits at 18,200 (a number people apperantly don't like) and I did what a normal person would do, I requested an increase TO 36,000. I did this mostly for testing/learning purposes. This amount is a bit more than I make annually so it's all pretty silly. Of course, I got the income verification message and promptly filled it out online and received the 15-30 day message.

So...what are my realistic chances at getting this approved? Will they counter-offer me if I don't get approved?

Thanks in advance for all your help. Smiley Happy

A limit I would LOVE to have on any of my CC's. Lol

If you get an Amex it's very easy to acquire. 3XCLI then another increase could get you there.

5K SCL -> 15K -> 20K or so...if your income supports it I guess. (I wasn't making all that much at the time)
