Amex CLI Denied twice

Sick of AMEX BCE cli being denied been a member since 2012. My credit limit is stuck at 2500. I asked once in  February now waited 180 days asked again today and got the 7-10 message. Fico credit score 8 experian 766.

No derags with Amex. Also my understanding this is a soft pull right?

Just venting. Really sick of the constant bs response.

Update: 10 mins later i got a denial email and a message link.

"One or more of your American Express® Cards currently has a spending limit."

Spending limit? i hope its not referring to my green card, cause this is bs!

x2rippx . . . Don't let it get to you as I've gotten that message since I obtained the Business Platinum . . . yep, it's nerve-racking but basically it's Amex's choice to deny us . . . I'm just glad it's a SP. Best wishes in getting to your desired limit soon!!!

Re: Amex CLI Denied twice

Sorry for your denial @x2rippx AMEX looks at more than their internal records for CLI's. @Brian_Earl_Spilner is pretty well rehearshed on how AMEX operates.

Re: Amex CLI Denied twice

Sorry to hear about the lack of movement with Amex. If they mentioned a spending limit, they are most likely talking about your Green. You'll need to check to see what limit they've set you at. Unfortunately, a spending limit is AA from Amex. As long as it's in place, you won't be able to get a CLI on any of your cards. You also won't be able to apply for new cards or refer anyone. Another unfortunate for the spending limit is it's basically impossible to get it removed. Something about your profile has spooked them and until that's resolved, they won't remove it. Many get it removed after about year. Some have it for years. No way to know how long it will be for you, because nobody will be able to tell you why it happened.

Re: Amex CLI Denied twice

Just to piggy back on this, you seem to know Amex pretty well.

Is there a way to see what my current limit on my charge cards are, other than just playing with the "check spending power" button?

Re: Amex CLI Denied twice

I got it from the csr. Bear in mind it's dynamic depending on spend. When I first got my Gold, I called up and asked. CSR said 27k. I charged up to around 13k and they slowed me down. Haven't gone near that since so don't know where it sits.

Be kind of careful with the "how much can i spend?" link. Some have suggested multiple uses of that without a following charge might have consequences.

Would you care to elaborate as to what would the consequences be? I thought it was for me to keep checking how much it can be approved. And it keeps giving äl an option to try a higher number or a lower number if it's not approved. I have used it often times. Just want to make sure the consequences are nothing serious

They can be serious. They might block your card and/or you'll start getting calls from them. The point of that button is to check if a large purchase of $X will go through every so often. When you put in that amount, Amex expects a purchase of $X amount (or close to it) to actually come through shortly after. When it doesn't, it raises flags.
