Amex CLI...dreaded 7-10 day message

I am at 61 days with my new Amex cards, both with $500 SL. I put in for 3x CLI and got the 7-10 days message. Is that always a no?

Unfortunately, I would say that this is, indeed, a denial. There have been quite a few posts in the past about people with low SL's with Amex not being able to get the much talked-about 3X CLI at day 61. Sounds like you were borderline getting approved, so Amex threw you a bone. I would make sure you keep using the card and pay the balance in full. In time, you'll either get a CLI, or you could just apply for a different Amex card in the future and they will likely start you off at a higher limit. Personally, I would suggest giving the card a year to mature.

Sorry about the turn out of your CLI request OP, That message is usually indicating a denial. You should call them too and find out what the reasons were in case it is a denial, sometimes, it would just be a miscalculation of the days on our part. I was in the same situation when I first requested a CLI for the BCE and was denied on day 62, but I just kept using it, infact, I used it a lot more and paid it on time and in full everytime, and on the 5th month (92nd day) They finally approved it. Soon you will be out of that bucket, but with AMEX, you'd want to really be patient with them and they will definitely reward you.

Also you can only get one CLI from Amex in 6 months.  So if you had gotten increase on one card at 61 days you couldn't get one on your other Amex card.

Re: Amex CLI...dreaded 7-10 day message

I have simply given up on pressuring AMEX to give me an CLI.  At 61 days, a denial...at 81 days, a denial. Smiley Sad I have just said forget it!  Hopefully they will give me one when they decide it is time.  I'm done begging and I have no plans of applying for any of their other cards at the moment.  I have no real need for any of their cards but maybe in another year or so, I will be eying the Hilton just for a good sign up bonus.

I say all of this to say, I feel your pain.  I'm sorry you didn't get it but maybe they will suprise you when you least expect it.
