Amex CLI question

Tried searching for the answer but couldn't find what I was looking for...

Guessing this is a denial, correct? Not some sort of verification stuff? Don't have time to call right now, hoping someone can steer me in the right direction. Thanks!!

Re: Amex CLI question

I've seen this message when you request a CLI before you are eligible for one. For example, if you previously received a CLI, and instead of waiting the required 180 days for another, you try for one at day 172. Hope this helps. Smiley Happy

Re: Amex CLI question

I received that message with my last CLI request from them and it was a denial - and not because I tried too early either. I got the denial letter about a week later.

Thanks guys, I figured it was. I was indeed trying my luck at an early CLI.

Re: Amex CLI question

I got that message too. I called and she told me now I can't try again until July. I had recieved a letter prior saying the account must be open 60 days. SO i thought i was at 60 days. Now I'm not sure if i was at 60 days and this is what the CSR just told me on the phone and I'm still eligable at 60 days or I really have to wait until July now because i was denied and I was over 60 days..She couldn't tell me that part LOL

My understanding is that with Amex if you apply too soon it doesn't reset the clock, so you should be able to simply wait until you would have been eligible anyway and try again.  There's more detailed info the in the 'mega-thread' on the Amex 3x CLI.

That's supposed to be what happens but Amex has been very inconsistent lately and I know of one person who did have his clock reset when he tried too early.  Hard to figure out Amex in regards to CLIs these days.

+100

I couldn't agree more... they seem to be anything but consistent these days.
