Amex CLI request - 2022 info requested

The link to increase credit limit vanished from Amex last year sometime. I wasn't ready to apply until now, so I didn't look into it until today. Today, I found a link to use:

https://global.americanexpress.com/lending/line-increase/request

I went there and decided I'd request a higher CL than I expected them to approve, on the theory that they would just give me what they did approve, so why limit the range. When I clicked to submit the request, they requested access to my bank accounts, or for me to send some documents.

I decided to back out and try again with a lower number (easy to do with prior interface), but, I can't see how to do that. It shows me language to the effect that they are considering my application and I can't apply again until they decide. I went in chat and asked if I can cancel that request. He offered to give me the phone number for that group. I skipped it for now.

1 - Does this give any indication about odds of approval if I comply with the request?
2 - What happens if I ignore it? Does it time out after a while?
3 - If I drop my requested CL, will that avoid this next time, or do they ask for this for any CLI now?

I would consider granting them this access if it was more important, but this is just a "why not" / utilization pad CLI request. I don't use the card that much. I don't love having access to stuff like this floating around more than necessary.

Thanks!

Since the CLI process is different these days, that known hack doesn't work anymore. It shows me language to the effect that they are considering my application and I can't apply again until they decide. I went in chat and asked if I can cancel that request. 1 - Does this give any indication about odds of approval if I comply with the request? No. Linking accounts simply allows them to analyze data. No guarantees on the outcome. Some individuals/profiles will go through this process, others do not have to go through it.
2 - What happens if I ignore it? Does it time out after a while?  You'll likely be asked for the same info/process next time.
3 - If I drop my requested CL, will that avoid this next time, or do they ask for this for any CLI now?  It depends on what you asked as far as a CLI amount and what AmEx knows about your reported income. Obviously, if you were asking for more than you're cycling vs what AmEx internally knows and the income/data you provided will definitely make them take a closer look.

I would consider granting them this access if it was more important, but this is just a "why not" / utilization pad CLI request. I don't use the card that much. I don't love having access to stuff like this floating around more than necessary.  I suppose AmEx can likely ask the same...why not use this process if an individual is only looking for padding?

Thanks!

See above.

Re: Amex CLI request - 2022 info requested

@KJinNC  If you haven't already definitely check out this thread.  I found this a couple of weeks ago.  The request for them needing your banking info does expire eventually after a few weeks.  Hopefully this helps! https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Card-Applications/AMEX-CLI-Button-Missing/m-p/6435063

Re: Amex CLI request - 2022 info requested

@KJinNC ,

FWIW, I gave AmEx access to my bank account while applying for a biz card a few years ago; never had an issue after. I am usually quite leery of intrusive requests but this one was actually quite harmless. Much prefer giving access to bank account or better, bank statements, vs a 4506 tax transcript request for a CC/CLI. If uncomfortable just reset password.

Of course, we each have our lines in the sand !
