Re: Amex Delta Gold

Interesting story and data points!

How do you plan to redeem your PRG rewards?  The PRG looks interesting to me in the future (after CSP or CSR of course)  but I already have BCP for groceries and my average gas station fill-up is $4 every 6 weeks (or less, lol) so the only thing it is useful for is airfare (3X is pretty good though) but the Platinum being 5X is way better and I do JUST enough air travel annually to cover the AF there with 5X MRs.

Re: Amex Delta Gold

For me, airfare is the key.  I fly a lot.  Typically every other week, but sometimes every 3 weeks.  We also live 14 hours from my family, and 16 from DHs family.  I have always always always paid for airfare through my debit card.  Earning rewards for something I have historically paid "cash" (debit) for will be a nice perk.

Congrats on the approval !

You will quickly notice the early boarding, and free checked bags. You can get a lot of value just out of that.

My AMEX Delta Gold approval was only $2k in 2013, but the cards have a definite CL growth path. Good luck on your AMEX future Smiley Happy

Re: Amex Delta Gold

In theory, from what I’ve seen and read on this fourms. The underwriting criteria is the same for all the charge cards ( green, gold, platinum) so if you qualify for one you should for all of them. But from my own personal experience. I was Prequalified for green and Gold. Took the gold card. But the platinum never shows a preapproval yet I’m still preapproved for the green card. This is when logged in of course. It makes me wonder if the platinum has a little stricter underwriting then the other 2 since it’s amex high end premium card for the everyday consumer.

If you applied for the Delta Card today and want a charge card being either the PRG or Platnium. There’s no harm in putting in the app for the charge card if you aren’t preapproved for either of them since the hardpulls would be combined. If you get it great! If not, no harm because you used the hardpull for a successful app.

And ABC:
I’m not sure what I plan on doing with the MR points yet. Probably going to sit on them for 6-12 months. My fiancé and me would like to go somewhere and with the new card signup bonuses she just app’d for plus the points we have banked on current cards. We should have about 90 in Delta miles , 30k in flex perks , 50k in UR, 50k in Altitude points, and then about 55k in MR.
So that’s totaling about 270k in points/miles. We will probably going to south east Asia (Indonesia, Thailand , etc) for 10-14 days for free and probably still have some left over. That’s the general idea so far.

The PRG was a better fit for me. I would have loved the 5X points on travel from the platinum but I travel mainly to the Caribbean and I don’t drink at all. So the Uber credit were worthless to me. Wish they would get rid of those and replace it with taxi statement credits.
Without the Uber credits, I can’t justify the annual fee of the platnium. I spend a ton on airlines a year , but not enough to justify it. I wouldn’t even be getting better rewards then the PRG.

Re: Amex Delta Gold

Shadowfactor, you were correct.  Decided since it wouldn't HP a second time, to app the PRG.  Approved, even without the prequal!

Re: Amex Delta Gold

Congrats. The points on the PRG are worth more and there’s higher rewards categories.
My delta card won’t make it to the end of the year most likely. Just depends on how much I fly delta next year.

Re: Amex Delta Gold

I started a chat with customer service on my PRG account.  I couldn't (still can't until the cards arrive) connect my Delta Gold and my PRG.  Had to make separate accounts for now, but anyway.  I started a chat.   The rep had a targeted offer at the end of the chat, add an AU and get additional 5k points after spending $500 over first three months, on up to 4 new AUs.

Re: Amex Delta Gold

Congrats on the AMEX!  I swear I can never get the Delta or SPG to pre-qual. Yet I have the BCE EDCC PRG, thought the BCE / EDCC had stricter UW .. Ah well, still congrats man enjoy the new cl

Re: Amex Delta Gold

Yea....they were offering me the Plat, I went for the Blue Delta.

Plat.PNGI

I wouldn't run enough through the Plat to justify the AF.
