Re: Amex Delta Gold

Well they seem quite generous today! FWIW, I had zero relationship with Amex before today. Glad to finally be “in” with them.

Re: Amex Delta Gold

@shadowfactor

So I took the PRG as I was pre-qualified for it and the Green Card. I received the card and then the next day I was showing pre-qualified for the Delta Gold Card and have been for the past week and a half and just now checked and no longer pre qualified for it. That said, I went back into check my offers on my account and as of yesterday the featured cards were BCE ED and Platinum but none were pre approved, just the standard "applying to expand..." Now today, I have the BCE, ED and SPG, again all are just "applying to expand...". Do you know how solid those are? I would really love to get the SPG card, but don't want to app if it's not fairly solid.

Thoughts?

Re: Amex Delta Gold

UPDATE....

It appears that the Amex Pre Qual site was down for about 15 minutes. Just went back on and checked the pre-quals and the Delta Gold Pre Qual was there again for 35,000 for $1K spend in the first 3 months. I said, what the heck, I'm going for it. Bam, approved $1,000 SL.

What is the rule with # of cards with Amex? I just got the PRG a week or so ago and now I have the Delta Gold (yay)! Is that the limit?

And is it 3 months from today I can ask for 3x CLI?

Re: Amex Delta Gold

I got my BCE and Everday amex card with one hard pull, a week apart. First i applied for the BCE and then after reading some on here i decided to go for the everyday to get 2nd card with one pull. It was a week later though but it still was approved with the hard pull from bce. Then 3 months later i got refered to the hilton card by my husband {email invite to sign up so he could get extra 20,000 points} and i was approved for that, no hard pull either. So personally i was able to get 3 amex in the span of 3 months with one hard pull.

For the hardpulls to be combined. They must be done on the same day.

So if you applied today for the delta card and we’re approved. You could apply for the PRG and they would use the same pull. If you do want the PRG and app’d today for the delta and we’re approved. There’s no harm in trying for a PRG. But if you didn’t app today. And there’s no Prequalified offer. You might get the card but that’s a risk you have to take.

I app’d for the Delta and PRG on the same day. Score was at 610 EXP. had Prequalified Offers for both. Was approved for the Delta after address verification. Decided to cancel the PRG app since I didn’t think I could hit the spending bonus with being out of country for work for 30 plus days and Amex coverage there was horrible.

Got my delta card and decided I wanted a new IPhone X. Met the spending bonus right there in the first 2 weeks

About 25 days after app’ing I was more interested in getting the blue cash then the PRG since it doesn’t have an annual fee and the PRG does. So tried to get blue cash. Declined at 631 EXP. when I was doing the recon for it. The rep was talking to me and asked why I cancelled the PRG app because I was really approved for the card, they just wanted address verification.
He was telling me that the value of MR points and getting 2X MR points was about the same as 3% cash back on Groceries plus PRG had double points on restaurants and Gas. The annual Fee was waived for the first year and I really got the annual fee for free the 2nd year with 2 years of airline credits.
He told me that I wouldn’t be approved for it for 30 days since I was just declined for another card per policy.
But he then said he could get around it by just continuing my previous app and doing the address verification. Did that and was approved.

Now I hardly use my Delta Card, I got the bonus and I buy Starbucks on it twice a month. My PRG is my daily driver except when I’m outside the US. Love the card.
If the Delta Bonus wasn’t so good I would have probably picked the PRG right off the bat.
I got 50K miles and a $150 statement credit with 1K spend on Delta and only 25K on PRG.

Re: Amex Delta Gold

It’s common knowledge that Amex uses their own internal scoring system once you are a customer. So once you are a customer, they base it off that as well as your FICO score.

As far as getting multiplie cards with one hard pull. The best I can personally confirm directly from Amex is that applications on the same day will result in one hard pull.

After your an established card member, there’s a lot of data points on here that state you can get another Amex card with no hard pull if declined and some are getting no hard pull for approvals. My best guess is that it’s based on what your internal score is , if they decide to pull credit for a new account.

Personally I had my delta card for 27 days. And went for the BCE. Was declined and got 2 hardpulls out of it. So I called up Amex and asked what gives since they declined me and pulled my credit. I was trying to get the hard pulls removed.

The rep told me that you must be a card member for 30 days and Amex must have updated your FICO system on the system after you opened your card. So a soft pull after account opening for the chance to maybe not get a hard pull. As I previously said. My guess is that they look at your internal score, then the last softpull score and the computer then decides if it wants to check your credit now. None of this is set in stone and those that never received a hard pull for a decline or approval should consider themselves lucky. Applying for any kind of credit is supposed to result in a hard pull.

As far as the number of cards you can have. I believe it’s 5 revolvers and then you can have charge cards on top of that.

Once you get to a certain exposure with Amex or too many new cards you run into POI and FR. it’s mainly the exposure that triggers FR or risky patterns

Total Revolving Limits $254,800
