@Jccflat wrote:wen someone has the delta gold and it's 12 months already and sees the request upgrade option to the reserve or platinum does this mean if he takes the upgrade he gets the sub offer of that card ?
Nope. Unless the upgrade comes with an offer attached, you won't get the current SUB as if you were applying for a brand new card.

. Waited 60 days and then another week for good measure. No luck. My score had not moved too much during that time. I also applied for the Amex Gold blind (didn't know about the "you're pre-approved vs the "expand your membership" trick) and got denied.
A month later I got really excited about the Amex CAP program and applied through there too... Also denied (it had been 30 days already since my previous denial). Funny thing is I pass through almost $100,000 a year through my corporate Amex which I have had for 3 years now. If only they cared about that (they don't).
I check the "apply" button from time to time and the Bonvoy Brilliant shows "pre-approved". But it's only been 30 days since my last denial so I know that app will get rejected / cancelled because of that. I've been told by Amex to wait atleast 90 days between denials.
So now I'm just watching proverbial paint dry. I've knocked on their door too many times and I feel like they've just put up the do not disturb sign. Next time I'm going in; its going to be when the door is wide open and someone is standing outside saying "come on in, miss".
If you see what I mean.
Definitely. I didn't know you'd already tried different things with Amex. Best thing to do now is wait a bit and keep improving your scores.
Keep in mind that Amex may not use the latest score for a SP approval, so even after your scores go up, you may want to give it some time before applying. I've seen many posts here where people mention they get a sudden jump on their scores, get excited and apply -- only to find out that the score Amex used was a month or more behind.
The corporate Amex may see a lot of spend, but it's really not the same as a personal card where you have full responsibility over the charges, and it's your own money being used to pay the bills. Your job is basically paying for the expenses on the corporate card.
You bring up a good point. Their SPs can be 1-2 months behind.

Fully aware of this. This forum has given my lots of insight on all that stuff. I started tracking my scores from Experian and how they update with Amex. Amex only updates 15th and 28th for me. And even then, in the denial letter are using an older score than the one THEY THEMSELVES are showing. I learned that the under writing scores could be old and not caught up fully so best to wait, even when you think you are ready.

Your job is basically paying for the expenses on the corporate card. I know, but its a nice fantasy to have to think they some how would take all that history and pass through into account. Even though its because of 100% full reimbursements. I have some friends (at other companies) that use their PERSONAL Amex's for expense reimbursement. Now THAT is the life. They've enjoyed passing through 40 to 50K / year on their personal cards only to expense everything and for Amex to reward them with generous CL increases every few months because of such spend. My company unfortunatly does not allow any personal card use.

No, that app was my first card. They used a 2 month old SP for my next 2 cards. Delta Platinum and Gold charge approved with a 625.

How long had you been an Amex customer before you applied for it? I wonder if that came into account and offset the score? From what I've read on here, all scores point to you needing to be at least 670+ (good range).

I've been on both sides over the years. Some companies issue corporate cards and others would reimburse me for expenses on my own cards. I'll tell you that while it's nice to rack up a bunch of rewards/cashback by using your own card, it can also be a pain -- particularly if you're putting a ton of charges on them. Depending on the company's reimbursement policy, you could be maxing out cards and not getting the money to pay them off in time to control the utilization on them. The approval process may take time from your boss going over expenses to the accounting person approving and then finally getting a check or direct deposit. Certain expenses may get rejected, etc. I've dealt with a decent amount of annoyances and now I appreciate the company card more. I just charge on it and forget about it.
Best scenarios are when companies aren't too strict on business expenses. They give you a card, but still let you charge on your own. My current company is like that, but I still put most of it on the corporate card.
I've also seen worst case scenarios with friends whose companies would take forever to reimburse, so they had to use their own money to cover charges, and even worse, companies that went under during crisis and they got stuck with all the expenses.
Hi OP this is what I get when logging in to my Delta Platinum Business card...upgrade for a lesser SUB, but I am guessing a lesser AF as it would be prorated?
That seems like more of a pure upgrade offer. I don't get that when I log in. My card is less than a year old.

my platinum is under a year old.....
