Amex EveryDay® Credit Card

Happy Holidays,

I wanted to get your opinion on if I should apply for the Amex EveryDay® Credit Card. I'm the first in my family looking to get an AmEx, so let me know if I'm missing something really basic. I like the card because it's seems geared towards younger, more limited history. And, it seems AmEx has higher limits for first time cards.

Info:

College Freshman

Income: $15k + $5500 college scholarship + $20,000+ eligible loan (don't know if AmEx accepts loans)

CS- Transunion: 708, EQX- 708 (IK, IK, its not my FICO)

My reason for applying for the card is to bring my utilization ratio down. I generally keep it between 10=15

Credit Card Limits: Discover (authorized user) $2500, Capital One (authorized user) $750, Capital One (my first card) $1000 (Automatic $1500 CLI in 3 months). I don't know if authorized user helps with AmEx and if they have a similar rule to Chase's "5/24"

Re: Amex EveryDay® Credit Card

I would pay the $1 for Amex CreditSecure or Credit Check Total trials and get your actual FICO scores. Discover’s creditscorecard.com will let you see your Experian FICO 8 scores for free which is what Amex uses.

Amex will want to see a year of history.
Have you tried using the Amex Prequalified site ? That will basically tell you if your Preapproved.

Go get your FICO scores and try the Prequalified site and post back

Agree with the above. The creditsecure is worth the $1. Just be sure to call and cancel it within 30 days before being charge $16.99 a month.

Re: Amex EveryDay® Credit Card

Ok so got approved with 718, but the weird thing is I have no pre-set spending limit. Anyone know what this is and what it means?

I'm gonna guess that you accidentally applied for a charge card instead of the EveryDay revolver.... or it went pending/manual review for SL but guaranteed approval nonetheless?

Again, just guesses.

Re: Amex EveryDay® Credit Card

I was about to say the same thing. Probably applied for the charge card instead of the Revolver. They don’t even have the same names so either you didn’t app for the right card or Amex hasn’t decided what they are going to give you for a SL yet.

If you did end up with a charge card. They must be paid in full every month. There is no option to carry balances unless Amex Offers you the POT feature.

Re: Amex EveryDay® Credit Card

I did some research because I was confused and still don't know if it's charge or credit. But, I remember applying specifically for Amex EveryDay® Credit Card, when I called the automated assisstant, it says I've been accepted as Amex EveryDay Preferred. I don't know if this is.a charge or credit card. Either way, I pay off my balance ifn full each month.

Congrats on the approval.

It’s a Revolver. It’s the AF version of the everyday card. Did they set a limit for you ?
Just never heard of a Amex Revolver with NPSL

It’s a revolver. Same thing happened with my Delta Gold. Robo lady said NPSL. Calling in and speaking to a CSR will help in getting the SL and apr
