Amex Everyday Denial

I applied for the everyday card because it was recommended on the credit karma site. I know stupid me but I tried and was denied. I received a denial letter in the mail and it says my score is 537 but my score on myfico is 625. I'm completely lost. I thought the myfico score was the real score. How can the score be so off? I initially wanted to do a recon when I got the denial online but with 537 I'm not even going to bother. I don't get it. 😩😩

Re: Amex Everyday Denial

What score on MyFico is 625?  What's your Experian score because that is what AE typically pulls.  Additionally most cc issuers have their own internal scoring model where your Fico score is just one factor.

Re: Amex Everyday Denial

Probably EQ.

In any case 625 is far too low for an AMEX Revolver.

Op,

That sounds more like a CK score you did say you applied thru their site for Amex right?

Re: Amex Everyday Denial

Yes I applied through CK site. The 625 is actually my EQ score. I guess my experian is much lower. I have to pull that one. I applied becasue my uncle received an Amex preapproval for the green card in the mail and his scores are in the 600s and he was approved. Is it easier to get the green card?

Re: Amex Everyday Denial

Yes, the green card is easier to get because it's a charge card not a revolver.  Where are you getting the 625 from.  If it's from Equifax directly that is not your real Fico score but their own enhanced  score.

Re: Amex Everyday Denial

Much easier as it is not a revolving line of credit.

I recommend waiting till you hit a EX FICO of 660 before trying for green.

Op,

Nixon offers a good suggestion, because since you applied for the Everyday card with is a revolver it is a more difficult card to get if you would have applied for the green card you could have possibly been approved its borderline. Good Luck.

Re: Amex Everyday Denial

I think that score is way too low for Amex in general. I'd try again when your scores are more in the 660s-670s for one of their charge cards and late 600s for their revolvers. I also think it's much easier to get other cards with Amex once you've established a good track record with them. I've been able to get two other cards from them and I've only been in with them since June of this year.
