No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
Hey friends, long time reader but this'll be my first post. So I know this will probably come across pretty silly, but I'm just getting my credit off the ground. I currently have a Cap1 secured card $200 limit and a Discover It secured card $200 limit. The Cap1 is 3 months in and Discover is 1 month. Now I have few inquiries and after a lot of reading I've discovered that Amex has a history of being alright with thin files as long as there's no derogatories or late payments etc. My two cards have 100% payment histories and I had a 'screw it' moment and applied for the Everyday card, the non BC version. Immediately went to pending and got the 7-10 days message. So I called twice and the first rep said give them 10-14 days, the second said a different department was handling it and give them 3-5 days. I really don't expect an approval, but I figure if I were going to get shut down, it would have been instant, no? Do I take any other steps here or ride this out?
Edit: To add, the online status says to have my home address ready when I call, yet I got the aforementioned responses from the reps. Not too sure what to do about that.
Update: A day later, I check the status of my Amex Everyday app and it asked me to upload either a utility bill or a bank statement dated within the last 60 days to verify my address. Good sign? I provided them with a bank statement and will keep you guys posted!
That's more of a positive response than I was expecting! I saw somewhere that it's possible to call and ask for a 'credit analyst', but that's about the only option left if I wanted to try again. I'll probably just let them do what they've got to do and whatever happens happens.

Its absolutely a good sign. They would not spend the time verifying your identity if they have already decided to deny you.
Someone has looked at the application and it was a good enough for them to say "OK. Let's get a bit more info." Much better than opening it them looking at it and saying "Ewwwwwwwwww...... NEXT!"
Good luck!!
Hopefully they come through for you OP. Good luck!

So I received an email this morning and APPROVED! I was figuring $500 probably, $1000 at the most. Nope, $2000 CL. And this considering I'm only 5/5 for on time payments on my other two cards combined, both $200 secured cards. I'm amazed. I wasn't even expecting an approval to begin with, but I'm on the team I guess!
Congrats!
Create your login as early as possible and note the date that the statement cycle began. This is day #1 towards your 61 day 3X CLI request!
I just got a $2000 SL with my first Amex in almost 20 years and I'm excited to get to day 61 for my CLI attempt. Will be January 1, 2018 when I hit the LUV button hoping for $6000.
