Amex won't prequalify you for a minimum of 90 days after your first card. Being that you got a low limit for it, you're basically borderline for them and will probably have to wait between 3-6 months to see them or get an additional card.
Click on apply now- after that it should say one of the two things I posted.
Expanding membership is easy or you are already approved.

Ok that means you are not preapproved.
It will tell you when you are.
And I would follow Brian's advice..
I wasn't sure on the timeline. But you can keep checking later to look for the Gold to show "preapproved" when you click "apply" in offers.
That way, when the time is right, you may get it with no HP.
