Amex Green application - 14 day message

Hi All,

Just applied for the Amex Green and received the 14 day message.  I applied through the incognito mode trick, and then logged in and it showed as pre-approved.  When I submitted I got the 14 day message saying it was in progress.

After the application I realised that my Experian file was locked though I was thinking it would likely be a soft pull.

So my question is was the 14 day message likely due to the locked file, due to the fact that I applied via incognito (for the higher SUB), or something else?

My rough stats EX Fico 8 763, util ~3%, AAoA 1year, 4 total accounts, AoOA 1 year 8 months.

It could be any number of things, but if your file is locked, then there's likely additional review that may need to be performed on the backend.

You can definitely check the application status link to check the progress, or if you prefer, you can reach out to their new accounts team to determine whether any additional information is needed.

I'm assuming you have other active AmEx CCs currently?

Thanks.  What is the link for checking status?  Logged into my account but couldn't find anything.  Might try and find the number for new accounts and give them a call.  The email confirming application didn't have any links or numbers.

Not definitive but in my experience having been approved for 3 personal cards and 2 business cards with them, I only got an instant approval while logged into my account. 

Each time I had to call in and they just verified my identity and tell me the starting limit. Also, I got my best SL with them when I applied from my account.  It was the BPP and there was no SUB attached so there was no need to go incognito.

OP should be fine though. Just call them.

So called today and they basically just asked to confirm my address, and if I was current service member and then approved the card, so all pretty straight forward...

Btw I was logged into my account when I applied.  Brought up the incognito mode offer, clicked apply and then logged into a different tab and refreshed the app page to load my details...

Same exact thing happened to me when the same exact verification.
