Re: Amex Magnet 3X cli denied

Is this your first Amex card or are you previously a member?

If you've already been denied you have to wait 90 days before making another CLI request or you'd be automatically denied.

Re: Amex Magnet 3X cli denied

When did you last get a CLI on the BCE?  No harm in trying for one on the Magnet Card but I'd really be surprised if it is approved.  Once the initial denial they usually don't consider any other requests for 90 days.

Re: Amex Magnet 3X cli denied

Got cli about 5 months ago. 90 days is a long time. Oh well.

Re: Amex Magnet 3X cli denied

American Express has a rule that you can only get a credit limit increase once every 180 days.  Amex also considered all your cards as attached to a single account, so essentially the rule is i CLI per account every 180 days.  If you got a CLI on your BCE five months ago that means you can't get another one until 180 days elapsed.  So to get a CLI on your Magnet Card you'd have to clear two hurdles; the 180 day rule, and the 90 day post denial rule.

Re: Amex Magnet 3X cli denied

You dont have to wait 90 days if the reason for denial is requesting too early. OP can still request 180 days after last cli was approved.

Re: Amex Magnet 3X cli denied

I'll check what the denial letter say. Hopefully the reason is the request is too early.

Re: Amex Magnet 3X cli denied

If you were approved for a cli less than 180 days ago, that's the only reason for denial. The system automatically denies for requesting too early, luckily it doesn't reset the clock.
There are DP all over backing this up.
