I found the application status number on the CC Application board sticky.
Yeah, I've already tried that number... it rings to the same place as the number on the email.
That's OK... at least since it's a system issue I know it's (probably) not me, and one way or another it will work out.
Hey UncleB.
Could be a hold up to verify if you actually applied. Once they verify it's you, then they'll put the app on hold for five days and do another HP and after that you should be good. If they were going to deny it, then you would not have gotten the reference number. Sometimes with them it is better to apply for the card you really want first. Have faith that you will receive an approval.
That's likely it... at one time (even last year) you could app for a revolver and a charge on the same day without the five-day wait - I did it myself. Of course with all things credit this is always YMMV, and I might simply be an exception.
I'm especially annoyed that I'm unable to reach them as they instructed me to do. (12 hours now, still the same 'system is down' message.) I guess that's what really has me giving them 'side eye'... LOL.
I agree, though, if they were going to turn me down they most likely would have done it summarily at the beginning - I guess all I can do now is wait... LOL.

Hi UncleB,
First CONGRATS on your new Amex!
I've been reading your struggles with them for some time now and understand the bitter sweet relationship you have with them very well since DW and I were in a similar situation. (funny you decided to do this because it crossed my mind many times when I read your prior posts about being stuck at the 1k) I figured it was a bullet proof way to get your limit up.
Anyway..
Just wanted to chime in and say as of 2 or 3 weeks ago the "revolver/charge" both in 1 day with only 1 pull worked for me. I picked up the 100k hilton before it expired and the PRG 50k/1k back to back to go along with my BCP.
Im sure it will work itself out....Fingers crossed it stays 1 HP.

Thanks so much! You hit the nail right on the head - "bitter sweet" is the perfect way to describe my relationship with them, indeed!
I'm thinking it's a combination of two apps and their system having problems. I apped for the Delta Gold while logged in, and for the PRG app I was logged out (with all cookies cleared), which might have made a difference as well. I've considered that the limit on the Delta might have been larger had I not been logged in... if I go for the ED next spring I plan to try that as well (it also could make no difference at all... who knows?)
I did choose to go for the PRG due to already having got the HP, but if due to their system issues it ends up being two HPs it's not the end of the world, either. I have literally nothing else on the radar - probably for the rest of the year, so I have plenty of time for it to age off.
Thanks again for your encouragement!

I will say this is completely opposite of my experience 2 weeks ago and several times before. I always received a reference number immediately after applying even when I was denied a prior time. When I last did my 2 apps for BCE and PRG same day I had to call in for the 2nd app and I was immediately approved. The rep stated it was put on a security hold to ensure it was truly me applying. I did not have to wait 5 days nor did I receive a 2nd HP.

+1
I've got the reference number, I just can't get through to anybody to give it to. I literally tried all day long.
I tried three different numbers (all the numbers I could find). Maybe tomorrow I'll be able to get through to them, or they will just push it through on their own (which seems to happen for some people as well).
Good luck on the best outcome!
I got a call from a CSR this AM, and I had to call them back but once I got through to a person the approval was quick!
Here's the approval thread:
http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Card-Approvals/Amex-PRG-Approved-finally/td-p/4608859
The key is when calling the number and when it asks you to say/enter the last four of your SS# and ZIP code, if you do that it will fail (even this morning when I returned their call it failed with the same system message). If you simply wait and say "something else" at the prompt, then press "2" that you do not have an extension you'll get to a live human (if only I had done that yesterday... lesson learned!)
The rep was very friendly and didn't go into why my app was pending (if it was due to two in one day, or something else) and I didn't feel compelled to ask (sorry!).
Hopefully what I was able to find out about getting past the conversant prompts will be useful to somebody else.
