Amex PRG - Lord help me.

Late last night, I finally was able to put in an application for the Amex PRG with the 50k bonus. I had trouble getting the app to come up and go through correctly, but it finally did!

After submitting the app, it said, "We're almost done, but we need some more information" and asked me for assets, employement history, etc. Is this a good sign?

I finished the app and got the 7-10 day message, but got an email from Amex telling not to apply for another card because my app is pending. 

It's been "In progress" since last night, and I'm incredibly nervous about my approval chances. I read in some old threads that calling in for the status can make the application go from "in progress" to "denied" so I'm scared to call them.

Should I wait for them to reach out to me, or should I just bite the bullet and call them?

I don't think by just calling your account will be denied. If it's a denial it's a denial, calling just speeds up the process of finding out. That's just my 2 cents..

OK I called them.

Spoke with a rep who asked for my information, and then asked if I had applied for more than one card recently. I told her no.

She processed the app, and said it was declined. When I go to look at the declination online, it tells me it's unavailable. 

Damn I really wanted that spend bonus!

With an almost 700 EX, a denial for the PRG is odd, but your letter will tell you the reasons.

I was just approved and 2 months ago my EX was in the 660's... also went pending and stayed there for 2 days, but woke up to an approval letter on day 3 in my email.

Sorry, I know how hard you tried to get that promo!

I think Am Ex is tightening up somewhat compared to several months ago.

I applied for AMEX PRG last week and was approved after pending for about 8 hours. I was "wearing my dress" (no offense girls) and didn't put in a second app. So yesterday I'm looking at booking a flight with my new PRG when I get an email from Delta with regard to their 50,000 mile offer. I decided to go for the Delta PLAT with 60,000 miles / 10,000 QTM, and $100.00 statement credit if you book a flight. I apply, instant approval, and I immediately get my new account number, Exp date, and temp security code and book my flight. This time I decide to apply for a second card, the BCP, in hopes of getting 2 cards for 1 HP. I get a message stating "we need to talk to you in order to process your application". I call all day, but keep being told "our systems are down, please call back in a few hours". I finally speak with a rep, give her my confirmation number and ask what else they need. She just asks me a few identification questions and says we cannot process more than 1 app per day, you should receive an answer in the next 2 or 3 day's. Been checking the status webpage all day, still states "in process". So I'm hoping I get approved for this final Amex card. But if I get declined, hopefully it doesn't cost me an additional HP.
