I am currently a 18-year-old student in my first year at school. I have been working on building my credit profile and applied for the discover it, student, last year in April when I turned 18. I was accepted with a 1500 credit limit. 6 months later in October i applied for the BofA Cash CC and was accepted with 1500. This month Discover auto increased my limit to 2100 also. I wanted to get the AMEX platinum at the END of this year and was wondering what are the chances of me being accepted. I will be studying abroad a couple of times and would get a positive EV and be able to meet the spend for the signup offer. My scores for all 3 are currently hovering around the 720s, however, I'm expecting them to jump up after a hit the one year mark and climb by the end of the year. What do you guys think?
Before I flat out suggest that it might not be a wise choice to go Plat now since you're only an 18 year old student, May I ask what is your income?
If I include school grants, scholarships, money from work, and from parents I could probably have 30-40k.

Hi and welcome
Because of your age, you cannot include money you get from your parents.
Amex is very particular about income and it's sources, so if you ultimately decide to apply, only the truth whole truth and nothing but the truth.
I feel it's way too soon and cards like Platium are not intended as practice cards. While you may think now you can afford the AF, the amount they allow you to charge wont be much for a while.
Spending is limited at first even for those with long established histories if they are new customer to them.
It can make meeting sub requirements agony, because it's a long way to $5000, if you gotta do it in baby steps.
Start smaller and simpler, than gradually move towards cards that require "dedication"
You have a good shot. Definitely worth it for the global entry credit and 5x on airfare and hotels. Try to get the 100k sub.

She definitely brings up some good points.

+100
This all the way. You don't want income and tax review. Card will be closed in a snap.
Okay, I appreciate the responses. I was not aware of the income specifities. Would you guys recommend that I begin a relationship with them first with one of their more "beginner" cards and if so which ones. or would I not be able to get approved for those either.
Did you try the pre-approvals on Amex?
Try their prequalification site and see what comes up.
