Re: Amex Pre-Quals

Interesting, I am only prequalified for Gold and Delta Gold again. I was prequalified for EveryDay the other day.

I wonder if they are doing a SP on the other bureaus. I only had unfrozen Experian.

Re: Amex Pre-Quals

@Wrigley were you responding to my post? I wasn’t sure since you didn’t quote me, but I didn’t get an offer for a cobranded card, just Magnet, Everyday, and Platinum.

The cobranded cards such as the delta card seem to have different UW than the core AMEX cards. I think the "up to" limit may be a combination of things previously talked about in the thread: number of prequals, file history, expectations for limits ect. If only we had an amex employee on the forums lol

The co-branded cards do have a different UW for sure.  I got my Delta Gold (now blue) at 631 and a month later my SPG at 635. Each with 1k.  I got a double approval for BCE/EDC 90 days later @672 for 1.6k each, and 90 days after that i got Magnet/Hilton on double approval @681 at 1.6k each.  I have move limits around, but even at 693 i still havent had a CLI yet.  I'm not sure that with the new guidelines i heard about with the Amex summit that CLI's will be as easy to get for lower scores/income Smiley Sad

Core cards do seem to require a 660-670 minimum to be considered at the lowest limit. In my case, i would say that my history helped to not get the 500 credit steps limit on my BCE (now BCP)

I got it again last night, checked again this morning and the limits were gone. FICO 8 is 701 as of 05/01. Honestly, it feels like their 'after hours' pre qual for me.

What site did you use to get the side by side offers like that? The one I always find only asks me for the last 4 of my social and has horizontal offers instead of vertical ones.

I can’t seem to get to the one that asks me for my full social and income anymore either?

@Anonymous   Going on Incognito in Chrome will get you to it.   It doesn't have the tracking cookies like you are already a customer.

Re: Amex Pre-Quals

lol I thought I was in incognito last night. That's what I get for doing it while half-watching a Final Fantasy XII cutscene.

Looks like Amex has the same up to $2000 credit limit for me too which doesn't interest me so I am going to keep playing with my dead spot in the garden and wait for EQ to get cleaned up. I go from 6/6 to 2/6 by July anyway.

Fixed that for you Smiley Happy

Higher is always better, but your EX looks okay in your siggy.

Nah I meant EQ. I wasn’t saying I was going to go for the Amex, not as long as it looks like a low approval. I have a dispute in process with Ford on EQ and when I manage to get that out of the way, I’ll probably take a shot at Savor or Savor One if I decide to build a new Zen 2 machine this year so I can actually finance the purchase and then maybe get an Amex card next year.

Re: Amex Pre-Quals

A bit more to add on the subject. Since my new Discover account posted on my credit reports I haven't been able to get any pre-quals from Amex. "we could not find Pre-Qualified Offers for you at this time". In Georgia they appear to only pull EX, as does Discover. Zero soft or hard inqueries on EQ or TU.

I have two theories:

1. Amex isn't keen on extending credit right after you've opened a card with another lender. This may be based on how much SL the previous lender extended to you.

2. You can hit that pre-qual enough times for it to stop showing you offers.

Data Points:

1. Since I opened my Discover account my EX score has risen almost 20 points. Low utilization and all 3 of my old collections were removed. My overall credit profile is substaintailly better than when I was approved for Discover.

2.  Between the time I started looking at either Discover or Amex as my first 'real' card and for a couple of weeks after Disco approval I hit that Amex pre-qual button more times than I want to admit. Smiley Surprised
