@FancyFico123 wrote:@spiritcraft1 , keep us updated. I am interested to see if she gets approved! Did you call in?
No, are you supposed to?
Yes, I guess this is a real test with that low EX score.

Thank you so much for your insight!!! I honestly did not think it would happen but I took the confidence from the delta gold pre-qual and pulled the trigger on the Hilton Honors Surpass and was APPROVED!!!! Been wanting a hotel card and an in with AMEX for years. Granted it is a terrible SL of $1k and 26.49% APR which I believe is the highest they go lol. But 130k point signup bonus + free weekend night after $4k spend in 4 months is doable and will be extremely helpful for my upcoming residency interviews (Current 4th year medical student).
I am 100% gardening for AT LEAST a year, I honestly think my wallet is complete and do not see myself needing any more cards in the near future. The hotel card was the last piece.
* Side note... I read posts about CLI request prior to card arrival. Any thoughts? Also some folks get double approvals with the same pull? Not planning on any more cards but this would be interesting to hear more about if anyone has experience.
I didn't even know they had a credit monitoring site. I went and signed up for the free check. I don't need it as I already get my TU vantage score via Capital One, but figured I'd sign up just to look at offers on there. I don't get any pre-qual messages (didn't expect any) but there are offers with higher SUBs than the standard ones. I must admit my trigger finger was really itching. I am dying for a BCP, but am waiting a few more weeks for my BK13 to hit the 5 year mark since most DPs point to the 5 year mark as the green light for AMEX.
@Brian_Earl_Spilner wrote:Amex pre-qualifications are solid. That being said, many people, like myself, cold apped because we didn't have prequals and still got a card. The co-branded cards all have the same requirements with the only stipulation that you can qualify for a limit a certain multiple of the annual fee. I don't remember what that multiplier is. If you qualified for the Delta gold, you will qualify for the Hilton surpass.
Just for future reference, what was your score when you cold apped? TY

Scores are exactly the same as in my sig, I very recently updated it; Experian pulled. I consider it only a partial cold app tho, because I never would have applied without the prequal on the similar tier card (Delta Gold).
Congrats on your new HH card

Congrats on getting the card! I plan on apping for the no AF HH card on Friday. EX score is right about 650 and got my first AMEX prequalified with the BCE and EC cards two weeks ago but the prequal hasn't came back up since. But the HH card is something I prefer to have from AMEX right now.
