Eh, you have to be thinking of another preapproval like Discover.  American Express is generally very reliable though like any of them you still can be declined despite the preapproval.  That's true for Cap One as well.


Donald Duck was pre-approved for 3 Amex today......

His response was posted before Amex changed their system. And Donald Duck wasn't pre-approved, he got "recommendations".
