Amex Questions

Since I'm going to be going on an Amex spree in the next week or two, I figure I should nail down the appropriate cards.

As I discussed in another thread, I'm definitely applying for a Delta Amex. I've been various ilks of Medallion since 2009, and quite frankly I can use the bonus miles for a particular trip. Additionally, I can also use the MQM, so I've eliminated the Gold. That leaves the Platinum and Reserve.

I'm pretty sure I'm going with Platinum, but I could be convinced otherwise. From what I understand, the main differences between the cards are the cabin for the companion ticket, the Sky Club membership, the Miles Boost amounts, and the fee. Also, from what I understand, I'll only get the companion upgrade starting NEXT year, rather than this year. Is this correct? If I'm mistaken, I'll go Reserve, as I'll make good use of the companion. If not, are there any other benefits of the Reserve that I'm missing that would justify the added annual fee?

Also, I've read that if I apply and am approved for an Amex charge, I can immediately apply for an Amex revolver with no HP. Does this work the other way around—that is, since I'm prequalified for the PRG, assuming I get approved for the DL Amex, can I immediately apply for the PRG with only a SP?

Finally, if I've missed anything in the above thought pattern, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Hi. most of the time when you app for a amex card and app for a second within 36 hours they will use the same HP. and/or if you are a member for a particular card and app for another using your member info most of the time if you get denied you will sp, but again there are exeptions to that rule. i believe there is more value to the platinum since to earn points on the delta is harder since is just 1x points for a lot of day to day errands . gas etc.

I may be completly wrong... and if so I apologize.  But I am pretty sure Amex won't let you get 3 cards at once.

If I suggested that I was trying to get three cards at once, my language was in error. I'm definitely trying for the PRG, and am deciding between the DL Platinum and Reserve.
