Received an invitation and a RSVP code to apply for the blue cash preferred card ... does anyone know how this works? do I have a better chance if I got a code? or is this smoke and mirrors?
If you have an RSVP code then there is most likely a set APR. The offer is legitimate. It's as good as a prequal. Nothing is guaranteed of course but your chances are pretty good assuming nothing on your profile has changed for the worse since the date they sent the mailer. I have gotten a lot of those offers from Amex for the Platinum and PRG cards.
Thank you very much for the reply.
I already have the Amex Everyday card had in for about 10 months and since about two weeks ago I have been receiving RSVP codes for like 3 of their cards. I most likely won't apply but I was just curious about the codes.
Yeah I get the impression that once you're in with them they'll send you offers like crazy. I got a BCE about 6 weeks ago and I've been getting offers for ED and PRG in the mail. I'm gardening, though, and not really interested in the MR points thing, so I'm passing.
I'm in the same boat myself....gardening for at least 6 months.

You can stop that REAL quick, just open a business card and throw on a large balance for some 0% APR action. No more offers
Amex hates balances that's for sure lol
Ended up applying with the RSVP code and was approved for 3000k...small starting credit line because I have a lot of Inquiries on my EX report and a few new accounts kinda surprised I was approved in the first place I have an everyday card already and only was approved for that 9 months ago. But it worked now back to the Garden I go.
