I applied for an additional card on 1/21 and they used a SP from 12/24, exactly 4 weeks prior
By "additional card" do you mean you applied for another credit card product and they used the last updated EX credit score on your AMEX account? If so this is a known issue with them. You would need to wait for them to refresh their scores on their website first if you looking for a score increase to update to increase your chances of a better approval/terms with a credit card application with AMEX
I actually have never checked my score on the Amex account pages. I was just noting that it was a SP because I'm a customer, and it was 4 weeks in arrears.

Yes, there's been discussions on this in the past where AENB has been known to use SP data from a prior month with a variety of lending decisions including CLIs.

Really? Your account was in arrears?
They're referencing the *score update* being on a lag, not their account being past due.
Haha! I wouldn't want to have an account 4 weeks behind with them! Ouch!
I went back and looked. There were 3 SP's between the one they used and the date of the request. I wonder if that's on purpose, to smooth out any very short-term activity. While I was at it, I counted the number of SP's in the past year: 76.
