Amex SPG - No Go

I had a great offer from SPG in email and decided to grab one before end of year but got a no go from the online tool.  AMEX never did a hard pull for the app so was this based on their internal score?  Thoughts?

I really didn't care about a high limit, but wanted to help my AAoA with a third card with 1983 date.

Any new cards recently? How old are your AMEX cards now? Maybe it might be an internal thing but it could be something they see when they did a SP on your EX. I'm thinking about getting a 3rd card myself maybe around Feb. since my cards were backdated to 2000, giving me 3 cards with 14yrs on them.

Re: Amex SPG - No Go

Dang yes.... had a HP by Chase on Experian for Amazon Visa a few days before I app'd the SPG.

Not sure that makes a difference.

Got my AMEX PRG last Jan and my Delta in June.

Re: Amex SPG - No Go

AMEX is not too sensitive about inquires and with your two AMEX being aged enough for them, it may be something else. Are you carrying a big balance on the Delta?

Re: Amex SPG - No Go

Are you sure you haven't had any recent returned checks with Amex? They actually take that into consideration like one time I got a denial letter from them for the SPG. I'm assuming your EX Fico is still good and all.

I can't really think of any other reason they'd deny you right now so just wait until the AA letter comes in and see what it says.
