Amex SPG

I have only an Amex platinum but spend about 25k/year at spg hotels. Am I foolish not to apply for an Amex spg card? I did apply about 2 yrs ago and was denied but my credit is much improved since then. In fact, I got approved for a new Amex platinum about a week after Amex cancelled my pre-existing one with an offer to reinstate through optima, which I declined and just got a new card.

Re: Amex SPG

I'd say absolutely - if you spend that much to start with!!
NFCU $60.4k/PenFed $22.5k/Commerce $15K/53 $11K/Synovus $14K/BBT $11K/CapOne $12K/DCU $7.5K/BMO $7.5K/Chase $14.5k/Cabelas $10K/ and many many more!
Total CL $398600, plus car and RV loan.
Ooh. Ooh. Getting closer to that $500K mark!

Re: Amex SPG

I'd get it while it's still offered. You can switch points between SPG and Marriot if you ever change where you like to stay.
I got in with Amex about a year ago with HiltonHonors with a 650 Ex score

Re: Amex SPG

Thanks guys, for the support. Im sick of paying more and benefiting less than I should. It won't be an overextension since it's money I already spend. Amex has been so odd lately, this the cancellation and same week approval!!:??? Worst case scenario I lose about 6 credit score points

Actually if you already have another Amex card open you won't lose any points if they deny the SPG app.

Amex only does a soft pull if they deny you as an existing member.
