Amex Soft Pull?

I have read on here that current card holders sometimes don't get an HP when they apply for an additional card. I have my eye on the ED, but I don't want to take another HP. I am wondering if you guys think I will get an HP or an SP?

When I go to the application page, it only asks for my income and it says that I am pre-approved. So me this seems like a good sign that it will be a SP. Also, I have a good feeling about an SP approval, because I was approved for a 3x CLI today (my second). Thoughts? Should I go for it?

Edit: My FICO according to Amex (experian) is 709.

Re: Amex Soft Pull?

Those are the signs I saw when I applied for the Gold Delta SkyMiles in October.
1. Every personal credit/charge card on the site showed preapproved and asked for income.
2. EX was 717 at time of SP. They used the credit score SP from that month.

No hard pull after instant approval.

YMMV.

If you have a good feeling then go for it.  But like everything, it is YMMV and you should prepare yourself accordingly.

Re: Amex Soft Pull?

Update: I'm terrible at resisting.

Submitted the app, instant $10k approval (note: 2x my previous highest SL). I haven't gotten an email yet about an HP, normally I get them pretty quick but considering it's a friday night it might not come for a while. Hopefully it was an SP but only time will tell.

Re: Amex Soft Pull?

Last time I got a HP from Amex was in April when I got the BCE.

Since then I got a 3x CLI and opened 5 more tradelines, including 3 on the same day.  Haven't seen a HP since.

Re: Amex Soft Pull?

What do Amex pre approvals look like when your logged in ? When I click Offers it just goes to featured cards.

I had to go to the card I wanted and hit "apply", then at the top of the application page it said "You are pre-approved"

THanks for the tip. I would just go to the card offers. I went to apply and saw the pre-approvals but it shows an APR range.
