Amex app 7-10 days message

Today i decided to app a gold card by phone and it went pending, the csr gave me 7-10 days. Usually is that a bad sign? 50/50?

Since we have no clue what your overall profile looks like, best guess is 50/50.

You can always check the status of your application online by using the link below:

I would check the APP STATUS link on a daily basis.

If you applied by phone and the Customer Care Professional told you that you'll get a decision in 7-10 days then it is a definite denial.  The CCP already knows you're denied, but by law they cannot tell you the outcome over the phone so they will let you down gently by telling you to wait for a letter.

BTW, weren't you denied for this same card just a month ago?

MaizeandBlue is correct, two friends of mine have been given the 7-10 day notice over the phone; they were both denied by mail. I would venture to believe you've been denied, but do check the application status portal. Stranger things have happened at American Express.

When I applied for the old PRG back in August and got denied, I was able to see their letter online through the application portal so you should try to do the same thing. I did get approved for the new Amex Gold tho on November 9th so who knows.
