Amex application still pending after 4 days

Hello everyone,

Its been a few months since my last post. I have applied and was approved for the Amex ED card and the Amex Delta Gold card. However my dream card is the Amex BCE Preferred card so I applied. This was 4 days ago and it's still processing. Should I be concerned and just give up and cut my losses for now or hope that since they haven't denied my application at this point to hope for the best. I do not know what the hold up is and I'm getting concerned. Can some of the Amex pros chime in with some advice as I'm new to Amex and I'm not familiar with their process. Please help

I would call the CSR line to see in you can find out if there is more information/verification needed and to also see if you can "woo" the process. The dialogue with the AMEX rep may help to move your application towards the approval side.

If I remember correctly when I first applied for an Amex I double apped and was instantly approved for one card but the other one went to pending for the next 5 days and was approved eventually.

When I contacted customer service regarding the status about 3 days into pending status limbo they told me I was approved already but couldn't officially approve me until 5 days later for some reason.  I can't remember since it was a while ago.

Thank you for your response. I did call the CSR and the rep advised that he would send the application to the processing department as the application was just sitting in the system and nothing had been done. He stated Howe was placing a rush on it as nothing had been done during this time and of  the inconvenience this has caused me. He asked that I call back in 3 business days if I had not received a response. Time will tell and fingers are crossed

Thanks for the response. I actually did apply for a BCE in February and then the BCE Preferred on Monday which may have triggered something. I'm just hoping for the best and if I do not hear from them by Tuesday I will call as advised by the CRS. Thanks for the response. Really appreciate it.

Im in the same boat. My application has been pending for two days. Its so frustrating, and im getting the run around

Hi Bianca10191991,

Is this your first app with Amex?  I logged on to the status website and found my application was cancelled (without a hard pull). They stated that the reason was because I applied and was approved for the maximum credit cards within 30 days and to try again within 90 days. I'm just going to let my Amex ED and Delta Gold grow for about 6 -9 months then reapply hopefully with a better out come. I hope things turn out in your favor and your approved. Good Luck
