I was approved for green...Needed to call to verify identity but they denied me BCE. Will a recon help? If so what do I say/do?

AFAIK there is no recon of an Amex decline unless there is a material change on your CR.
Congrats! Thanks for sharing.
Did you find out the reason for the denial on the BCE? Do you know your scores or at least your Experian score?
I was initially denied my AMEX Everyday when I first applied, I knew my Experian score was a 748, so I called and requested a manual review. There wasn't any new information on my credit report or any errors, but the recon earned an approval. So sometimes a recon with AMEX is fruitful. If you have a thin file (mine was extremely thin) in combination with a good score you may be able to get a manual approval. Let us know where you stand so we can better assist you. Worst case scenario you will have to wait for a few months and show them responsible use with your AMEX Green, then you will be able to apply again. Second time around if you are still denied it will be a soft pull so the negative effects will be mitigated.
Congratulations on the AMEX green!
CreditGuy03, what was your experian fico score at the time you applied and what was the denial reason for the BCE? Sorry to hear you got declined on the BCE. I was just approved last Thursday for the green first and then the BCE right after. Both with just 1 hard pull on experian. I got them for backdating purposes. Even though I have been an amex customer since 2000 with a high experian fico score I still got the pending message online. So I just called in right away and the CSR approved both for me within 3-5 minutes on the phone with him. Maybe you were borderline and they could only approve the charge card since it's easier to obtain versus their revolver. If that's the case use the green responsibly for the next 6 months to build a higher internal score with amex and then apply for one of their revolvers.

This was almost certainly due to your Charge Off with GE/Synch.

There ya go! You gotta tell the whole story. I'd do as the others said above. Take the greenie as charity, pay on time, and in six months, try again
congrats on the Amex Green approval

Yeah, that will do it! I guess he forgot to mention that while trying to throw a pity party....lol.
