Amex everyday recon worth a try?

I recently applied for an everyday Amex for my uncle and he was denied. He recently was approved for the green card but he wanted a regular credit card. He got a denial letter in the mail which states that he is denied because his score is 683 and due to him being a Amex customer for a short period of time. Is a recon possible here or should he just wait another year or so. Tia!

Re: Amex everyday recon worth a try?

I think in this case, try again in two months. Did he try going for the revolver in the same day or did he wait long after that? Same thing happened to me back in June after I had gotten approved for the Gold Delta Skymiles card. I waited a few weeks later that same month, went for a PRG and was automatically denied and then two months later, was approved for the ED and Green cards and apped for them on the same day. Also it would be good to wait a bit so your uncle can develop a good internal score with Amex.

Re: Amex everyday recon worth a try?

I tried a few weeks later for him. He got a pre approval in the mail for the green Amex and was approved. He recentlt came into the country and has had credit for only a year but he pays everything in full when he uses credit. Should he wait another couple of months?

Yes it's like I was saying above. He can always try again in 2 or 3 months once he's developed some kind of history with the Amex card he has now.
