I applied on Nov. 2 for the Every Day card and was approved with a SP....All 3 bureau's were frozen as well...

For clarification:

 

If you are a current Amex cardholder and you apply for another card, its a SP for denial and HP for approval. This means that they will look at the SP credit report they have on file to make the first rounds of approval. If you make the cut they pull a HP. Something must be on the HP credit report that was not on your SP credit report. This must be the reason you were denied with a HP.

I would check your reports and also contact Amex New Accounts and ask for reconsideration.

Spoke to Amex about this issue. They said you must have been a card member for atleast 1 billing cycle of 30 days before the SP policy is in effect.

Thy are supposed to be removing the 2 credit pulls they did on me

Just hit my 2nd billing cycle with delta gold. I’ll give them a call tomorrow. Thanks for the info

I had to contact the credit unit about the issue. That’s who informed me of that. I was attempting to get the 2 hard pulls off my report. They really did 3 HP but I had to keep one since I ended up getting a PRG with them.

Basically from what I gather. They must update your FICO score after your first statement cuts for the SP policy.

Makes sense now why I saw all card options the first month but now only see 12 options. First statement was November 24 or so. I don’t qualify for certain cards, they disappeared.

I did not realize it takes one billing cycle.

Same happened to me last month and this week. Despite the fact I was "pre-qualified" for the PRG.

Thing is Amex used 712 (last SP) in my denial letter. When at the time of the hard pull it was 727 according to Experian.
