Did you get a preapproval for the everyday and the gold? I see the other tabs in the screengrab with it. Curious about the Everyday offer. Amex prequals are usually pretty solid except for Hilton and Delta Gold a lot of ppl report getting a $500 or $1K SL. If you decide to app for Hilton and get approved, you can pick up the Amex Gold charge card too with the same HP...do it same day.

DP: I app'd for the same offer a couple months ago (100k points for $1k) in order to get my first Amex card and they gave me a $20k CL on the base HH card. I plan on upgrading to the Surpass in 12 months to bank another batch of points without opening a new account.

Only after I was already a member I believe. I don't know if it says that when you are pn the prequal page before already having a card. I think the language was "Check out these pre-qualified offers"

Re: Amex pre-qual offers

Based on my experience with Amex this year (denied ~5 times, approved 3 times):

"Prequalified" means that they think you fit the profile for the card as far as spending, income, Amex's exposure with you currently, etc. It does not have much, if anything, to do with your credit and it does not mean you will get the card, although the demographic that would prequalify will also tend to be approved. If you have an unusual profile and you are surprised to be prequalified for a card you didn't think you could get - you were probably right, you may likely be denied. If you are an average person not paying much attention to this stuff and you receive a prequalified offer, you'll most likely get the card.

If you want to know pretty much for sure, once you have an Amex card, you should log in and then click the "apply" button. The language at the top of the next page, where you fill in your details, will either say that you're preapproved, or it won't. If it says you are preapproved, you will get the card. If it does not say that, you probably won't get it, though it's still possible based on income and perhaps other factors. Unfortunately, I don't know how to check this until you have at least one Amex card. Maybe someone else does.

Short version, "prequalified" and "preapproved" are two different things, with a lot of demographic overlap, but the actual meaning is almost unrelated. Good luck!

P.S. I should note, my path to getting my first personal Amex (Gold Card) was crazy and would give no useful data for anyone else. But, getting my second and third Amex cards was very normal, and that's what I'm basing the above comments on.
