So, finally out of the doghouse with Amex, I'm pre-approved for every card on their website, I want to apply for the platinum, which is one of two cards I can't check preapproval for since I have an upgrade offer for 25k Mr points from my gold card which I obviously don't want to do. Is it a safe bet to assume I'm most likely preapproved for that one as well since the Hilton aspire, Marriott, delta reserve and every other card says I'm pre-approved? Or is there a way to check the platinum as well before I app?
Thanks!
Hi the pre-approved message thing does not always work. However, if I am you I would apply for a regular revolver card first than the Platinum card. I would be a priority on regular revolver card.

I already have a revolver from them, and the only card that would interest me right now would be the platinum for lounge access, tsa precheck credit, and 5x on airfare...
You can apply them if you wanted to and they wouldn't be any hp. However, if you know you could get a better scores or profile in the coming days you can wait until Amex update your new data on their database.

That's not guaranteed. It's *usually* only a SP, but there are documented instances on here of members taking an HP for a new account even if they're existing cardholders.

If you want the Platinum, go ahead and apply for it. It most likely will be a soft pull anyway, so you have nothing to lose. Good luck!

Wow. That's new to me regarding Amex applying hp even for existing member. I didn't know. I guess it is usually SP but hp is still possibility. Good to know. Thanks.!

Yup, just ask @Brian_Earl_Spilner, @Anonymous, and I believe @coldfusion.
I took a hard pull on a denial once. Everything else was SP. I was an existing member.

Yep, they've HP'd me 3 times. All were with a clean and stable file, all led to approvals.
