Hello all! So I was on the American Express website a few min. Ago and I decided to check to see if I pre qualified for a card. It says 'Good news ***** ******, you are successfully pre qualified for the following card offers exclusively by American Express. " the blue cash every day, the green card and the Amex everyday. Would I really qualify for one of these with the scores in my sig? Anyone can tell me their scores when they were approved for one of these? Wasn't sure how accurate it is, I've only read on here people talking about the Discover pre qualify tool. Thank youuuu!

I got the Amex Everyday Preferred and Amex Gold within about 36hrs.   My scores were mid upper 600's.    I don't know what's going on at AMEX but I'm **bleep** glad about it.  They giving away that Gold card like candy.  lol    My SL with the Amex Everyday is low though $1000.   They said I have to wait 3 mo for a CLI.

Re: Amex prequalify tool, how accurate?

I guess I'm the combo breaker.  Had a Ch7 back in 1991 and lost my platinum card but they gave it back two years later. Then with the housing crasah ten years ago I lost everything and I got all my cards cancelled in 2011, even the ones with a zero balance. Ended with another Ch7 thanks to BofA but that's another story.  I get the Amex pre-approved ads regularly and try them to no avail. They do tell me they do not do a hard pull since they have on records that I had an account closed. Seems like in 2011 treats one harsher than 1991.

I've always had excellent payment history with AMEX. I haven't had one in years though and afraid to even try to get one right now. Has anyone ever had a paid charge off on their history when applying and got approved/any time of negative items on report ? What is the average credit score that AMEX requires ? I know, like you all said, to use the pre-qualify tool but I don't always trust those fully..

I got approved for a Delta gold with the scores below and 6 unpaid chargeoffs. In reality, 3 should be removed and I've settled 1.

EDIT: Oops, just noticed I replied to a very old posts. Sorry.

Hi OP

IMHO, your closing on a home in June really helped your credit profile. Soon as I closed in March, both AmX and NFCU gave me a huge CLIs.

Don’t let the 24% APR scare you. Just get in the habit of PIF and you never pay interest.

Also make sure to get intro 0% APR cards and make large payments when making large purchases. I can’t put into words how good it feels to not pay interest.

|| AmX Cash Magnet $40.5K || NFCU CashRewards $30K || Discover IT $24.7K || Macys $24.2K || NFCU CLOC $15K || NFCU Platinum $15K || CitiCostco $12.7K || Chase FU $12.7K || Apple Card $7K || BOA CashRewards $6K
