Amex question regarding tax returns etc.

Hello,

I had applie dand was approved for both an Amex Blue Cash and Everyday card a few months ago. Excited due to the 3x cli etc. They asked a few weeks later for tax returns and financials, which I've never done, except for a mtg, and did not at all feel comfortable doing. I didn't comply, and they closed the cards. Can I reapply now? My score is also 60 points higher than before when approved. Or am I blacklisted?

Thanks

Craig

This tends to happen if you request over 25K. If this is the case, resubmit a CLI to 25K and you should get an instant-approval. If you want to try for more, fill all that out and send it. Your choice but this headache I dealt with for 2 months really wasn't worth it for me.

Good luck!

Re: Amex question regarding tax returns etc.

they were actually new cards, $5000 and $4500 respectively. But my scores were as I said high 600's, now are mid 700's

Your probably not Black listed, but they most likely will want the same access to your finances that they asked for before.  In general if a creditor asked for your info once, they will still want it no matter what your score is.  With Amex its not just a score that matters.

Re: Amex question regarding tax returns etc.

That's kind of crazy that they asked you for tax returns after approving you for cards that weren't very high limits. Yikes. I'm not sure what will happen if you reapply, I'd imagine they will just ask you for the tax returns again. If you apply again, please post back and let us know what happens, could be helpful to others.

What was your spending on the cards like between the time you received thrm and when you got the request for the tax forms?

Very strange that they asked for tax info after you received the cards.  If you had gone crazy with spending I could understand
