Amex question... thinking about apping for SPG

I have PRG and ED both a year old.

Was thinking about apping for SPG.

I was approved for a cli on my ED today. Only x2 though.

Anyone add another Amex right after a CLI?

Think I would of gotten more, but only use the ED for around $300/500 a month. Always PIF.

Amex PRG NPSL I Chase Marriott $10k I Venture $15.3k I Amex BCE $10K I PNC 13K I Chase IHG $8.6k l Amazon $6k l Chase Hyatt 20k l US Bank Cash+ $13K I Barclays $12.6k I Venture $13k l Discover it $4.6k l Express Next $3.1k l Amex EverDay $15K l Cabelas 1k I Wayfair $17.1k I Walmart $8k l SG $9.8k l Target $3.6K I PP 2K l AU Shell Gas $900 opened in 1974 l Ex 704 Tu 698 Eq 667

Anything worth fighting for is worth fighting dirty for.

I haven't apped right after CLI, but if you got that (doubling a line is still awesome) I would think you'd be good to try. If they decline it'll just be a SP

Any new line of credit is going to be an HP. only your amex CLI's are sp most of the times.

Approvals are HP, but being an Amex holder already, if they decline for a new product it is only a SP

I apped for my Hilton right after I got a CLI on my BCE and was approved for $7.6k.

This is good to know.  I was approved for a ED card (with a low SL) last month.  I want a green card but waiting until my scores increase before applying.  But if I get anxious and decide to apply now (and subsequently denied) I will not have wasted a HP.

FICO Score 8 as of 07/23/18

I'm sort of curious why you'd want a Green Card when you already have a better card in the ED card? The ED card has more point earning potential and doesn't have the annual fee either.

I can't imagine you being turned down for any of the charge cards. The underwriting is the same for green as it is for gold or platinum cards, and that's lower than for their revolvers like the ED you already have from what I understand. Like soxfan, I wonder why you would want a green though? The PRG would give you the AmEx benefits, some extra MR earning potential, and you can recoup the annual fee somewhat with the travel credit. If you travel frequently, do the math and see if the Platinum makes sense for you - for me, the hotel/rental car status and airline credit alone are nearly worth it.
