Amex "In Progress" still......
Question. How long can an app from Amex stay as in process on the app status check page? A friend has had one for 3 days now. Every time I have applied for an Amex it was either approved or declined instantly except once but even that time it was an hour or so before it changed to approved. Other thing is it has not pulled her credit yet. She is an current Amex holder so I know they won't pull if it is denied but can anyone guess what is going on? (Hope this makes sense I have not had much coffee yet)

When did she open her last Amex account? Could it be she got the "5 day hold"? They won't pull her credit until after the 5 days if that's the case.

My last one took took 41 days and was finally approved. Nobody there could tell me why it took so long. Amex customer service is not that great compared to my other accounts.

Re: Amex "In Progress" still......
Amex can take their own time for approval. It is better to wait patiently or risk Amex starting a Financial Review and start requesting all kinds of Tax documents. Good to keep it low and wait for them to respond.

She was denied. Thx for the replies tho. I guess the only reason was not being an Amex customer long enough??? Lol

If she's a current AmEx client, I wonder why they denied her app? Did they say?
I thought from my experience if you have an AmEx card already, it's easier to get approve.

All she said was the denial letter states she hasn't been an Amex account holder long enough. I have not seen it but I doubt she would lie to me.... but I have not heard of that denial reason before.
I thought the same about once you are in future approvals were easy. Who knows. She has good fico scores too-well, clean reports and pretty good scores... high 600's to low 700's.

Hm that's an interesting denial and one i haven't heard of before. I got quite a few cards from them within a few months. What a bummer for your friend.

I told her to bring me the letter and I would write a recon letter for her. Once I get the letter I will update. It's not that I think she is lying because I truly don't... it's just so odd to me that I have never once read about this denial on here or in he years i spent on CB.
